What is EFT?

EFT, or Emotionally Focused Therapy, is an approach to couple therapy that focuses on re-organizing key emotional responses that take place in interactions between partners, creating a positive shift in partners’ interactional patterns. Stephanie has received extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and it is the main model that she uses in couple therapy with her clients. The ultimate goal of this approach is to create a secure bond between partners. If you’re interested in a more in-depth explanation about how EFT works, here is a great video by Dr. Sue Johnson, the creator of EFT.

Emotionally Focused Therapy has been backed by decades of research and has become the gold standard for empirically-supported treatment in the field of couple therapy. More information about the research supporting the efficacy of EFT can be found here.
